Meet the Doctors

  • Dr. Allan Padbury received his dental degree and Master’s degree in Periodontics from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest recognition awarded the specialty. After completion of his postgraduate degree, Dr. Padbury has been in private practice in the fields of periodontics and implant dentistry in Jackson, Michigan, for more than 20 years.

    Dr. Padbury has won numerous awards for his student outreach at the University of Michigan centered on the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic bone metabolism and has published articles in the Journal of Periodontology, Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. He gives lectures on clinical periodontics and implant dentistry at the University of Michigan and at various local and national professional societies. Dr. Padbury and his wife, Cathy, are Jackson natives who have been married for more than 25 years. They have two children, Will and Nathan.

  • Dr. Chen is a periodontist who graduated from University of Michigan with the prestigious Sigurd P. Ramfjord Award for Excellence in Graduate Periodontics. She obtained her dental degree from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University (China), and holds a specialist degree and a PhD degree in Implantology and Prosthodontics from the same institution.

    Dr. Chen currently serves as a full-time clinical faculty member at the University of Michigan, where she actively engages in both didactic and clinical instruction for predoctoral and graduate periodontal residents. Her research focuses on dental implants, soft tissue and digital dentistry. She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and also serves as a reviewer for several international journals.

    Dr. Chen is extremely compassionate and empathetic. Her philosophy of patient care is evidence-based, personalized and delivered with a gentle manner. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband and their cat. During her spare time, she enjoys traveling, painting and photography.

    Insurance can be harder to navigate than periodontics. April has been a member of the Padbury Periodontics team since 2005 and knows everything about insurance. She will work with you to help you navigate insurance hurdles and help tailor payment options to fit your specific needs.

    Ashley, who has been with Padbury Periodontics since 2009, is extremely skilled, thorough and efficient. She always has a smile on her face and is friendly with everyone. If you have a question, Ashley will take the time to listen and understand your needs and then provide you with the answer.
